Located in Kasugai City, northeast of Nagoya, is the wonderful cat cafe "New Journey." Opened in September 2017, it's now in its ninth year. The spacious, clean interior features wooden flooring and multiple sofas, cushions, and tables for customers to relax. The customers seemed very relaxed, surrounded by adorable cats.

Many cats were running around the cafe, giving the impression of a very energetic group. When a customer started playing with a toy, several cats would gather and jump around, joining in the fun. Some were very friendly and even relaxed on customers' laps. Many cats jumped onto my lap, and their cuteness was incredibly soothing.

The cafe incorporates various features to ensure customers can relax and enjoy their stay. Cute decorations, such as a large teddy bear, and a large selection of manga books are available. It's easy to find yourself wanting to stay for a long time. There was also a souvenir corner selling cat-shaped accessories, coasters, jigsaw puzzles, and more. Everything was reasonably priced.

A unique feature of this cat cafe is the large number of kittens. From what I saw, more than half of the cats in the cafe were kittens. This stems from the owner's desire to reduce the number of cats euthanized. Currently, 90% of cats euthanized in Japan are kittens. By actively taking in kittens from animal shelters, they can save cats from being euthanized. Fortunately, many people who want to adopt cats are looking for kittens, and customers are happy about this. Because they actively promote the cafe on social media like X and Instagram, they attract not only local customers but also customers from outside the area who come to see the cats. The owner said they want to continue running the cafe with the goals of making customers happy, finding adoptive homes for cats, and reducing the number of cats euthanized.
