Product Description
Todaya Shoten is a long-established tenugui (Traditional Towel) shop located in Nihonbashi, founded in 1872. All designs and colors are original. While inheriting tradition, we value bold and innovative designs and colors, embodying the spirit of learning from the past to inform the present. Our carefully crafted tenugui begin with a stencil, followed by dyeing, and almost all finishing processes, including the final folding, are done by hand. Experience the deep flavor of hand-dyed tenugui that machines cannot replicate.

Key Features
-
Fabric: Assurance of natural materials. The fabric dyed with pear garden dyeing is cotton that is gentle on the skin, unlike synthetic fibers. Cotton is strong, lightweight, and highly absorbent, effectively absorbing sweat and moisture and drying quickly. With each use, the texture improves, and it conforms to the skin. As you wash it, the dye settles, and the changes in color become one of the joys of using it. In the Japanese aesthetic, which values attention to hidden places and the back side, it is expected that the side being used is always the face side.
-
Cultural Heritage: Cat pattern: Cats have been cherished in commercial businesses, such as the 'maneki-neko' (beckoning cat), known for attracting people and associated with prosperous business.
-
Made in Japan: Crafted with high-quality materials and cultural authenticity.
